Infra Red Floor Heating

What is infrared radiation? Infrared radiation is invisible to the eye radiation between the frequency of visible light and microwaves. Although not visible to the eye, the infrared radiation is discernible on the skin through its heating properties. This infrared radiation can only be observed with an infrared camera (see photo).

This is a broad technical definition. What this amounts to is that all objects emit infrared radiation. In varying degrees – an object heated by electricity will have higher infrared radiation than for instance a table or you own body.

What is infrared floor heating? Infrared floor heating is nothing less or more than electric floor heating. The difference is that Speedheat floor heating as part of its unique properties of a 1mm thin element is extremely frugal in energy consumption.

Is one system more “infrared” than another? The heating output that you select will determine the infrared radiation - this will depend on a number of factors that you would have considered. For example, will you be using the floor heating as a primary heat source or as background comfort heating? If you need more information contact the team at Speedheat.
