Carbon Tax and Floor Heating

What does the proposed carbon tax mean for floor heating?

If your are as unsure as we are about the carbon tax eventuating, Eric Knight of the Sydney Morning Herald sheds a little bit more light on what it may mean for consumers.

“Greg Combet, the (Labour) Minister for Climate Change, found at least seven ways to say the same thing. The ''price tag on carbon pollution'', he argued, would be ''directed at the big businesses that are polluting the most''…The Coalition argues almost the opposite: although big business will receive the tax, it will pass it straight through to Australian households.

Both sides can't be right, can they? So who is telling the truth?”

While we don’t want to weigh in on the politics of this prickly issue, we do believe in a consumer society, the consumer pays. We recommend a prudent decision when choosing your heating system.  The best way to do this is to clarify and factor in the running costs down the track.

Electricity is largest form of energy consumed by households. Of this, Space Heating demands the most energy and thus results in the most Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

With the advent of carbon tax, its never been more important to consider the running costs of your heating system.  While www.energyrating.gov.au recommend around 125W/sqm for air conditioning , Speedheat use on average 80W/sqm. You can find out why in this video;

Speedheat provide a full running cost calculator (click for example) with every quote so you can see which rooms consume what energy and get a good understanding of what costs and savings eventuate down the track.
