1. Minimalism

Minimalism is making a big comeback this year. “Warm minimalism,” in particular, is one of the more popular renovation trends on our feed. This theme blends clean lines, open spaces, and warm colours.

Natural materials are a big feature of this minimalistic look, with wood and stone becoming staple textures. They create a sleek look while simultaneously offering a warm and homely feel. A prime example is the Taj Mahal stone pictured below, which brings this stunning kitchen to life.

With no bulky ducts or visible heating elements, electric underfloor heating gives you full creative freedom to achieve the minimalist look with the design and layout of your space.

2. Energy Efficiency

Most of us care about saving money and saving the planet, so why not do both at the same time?

Depending on the system, heating a home sometimes elicits high costs due to inefficient energy consumption.

Starting at the ground and working its way up, electric underfloor heating has a more even heat distribution than traditional systems. It uses radiant heat, which warms people and objects as opposed to the air in the room. At only 1.5mm thick, our heaters are close to the floor surface, providing faster heating that is retained for long periods of time. This is an advantage of not using air-pushing methods which have a tendency for cold spots and the circulation of nasty allergens.

Our underfloor heating system can also be programmed to suit your daily schedule – so it only heats the room when you are utilizing the space. This combination makes underfloor heating extremely energy efficient, especially when paired with solar power. It is a heating solution that is growing in popularity for its minimal energy wastage and running costs.

3. Bathroom Remodels

Bathroom remodels have been hugely popular over the past few months and we get why.  Big open showers and stone countertops are the epitome of elegance. Spa-style bathroom remodels have popularised shades of yellow and green, as well as mosaic tiling. Custom mood lighting is also trending as the perfect final touch to achieving the at-home spa feel.

Underfloor heating can even be installed under your shower and will alleviate cold spots and moisture buildup. This will truly change your daily routine for the better. After all, having the feeling of a spa retreat in your own home is the closest we get to complete relaxation on a weekday!

4. Integrated Outdoor Living

Seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces is becoming very popular this renovation season.  Cosy  seating areas with warm, water-resistant décor and views of the backyard make for a large and inviting space to entertain and relax. If you want to experience this indoor-outdoor flow but are not willing to battle the ever-changing temperatures of a Melbourne autumn while sipping your morning coffee, don’t worry – we’ve got you! Our underfloor heating can be installed almost anywhere, including outdoor areas.

5. Do-It-Yourself Renovations

DIY has always been an Aussie tradition.  However, with the current cost of living, many people are choosing to elevate the homes they already have and first-home buyers have stricter budgets than ever before. With newfound inspiration from Pinterest and other social media platforms, there is a whole new wave of excitement surrounding home renovations. If you want luxury on a budget, our underfloor heating kits might be the answer you’ve been looking for.  Underfloor heating has a great return on investment and will save you money on your energy bills. If you are keen on a challenge, all you need is the help of your electrician to lay it, connect it to the circuit, and fit off the thermostat.

6. Smart Home Technology

Smart technology has redefined what convenience can look like. Life can get busy and convenience in your home can give you more time towards the things that really matter. So, it is no surprise that smart home technology is one of 2025’s rising renovation trends. With our smart thermostats, the temperature of your home can be controlled from anywhere with the OJ Microline MWD5 app. Better yet, if your phone is out of hand’s reach, your underfloor heating system can be voice-commanded through Amazon Alexa or Google homes. This smart home technology provides unmatched comfort in your personal spaces. These thermostats are the only visible part of our heating system and blend seamlessly with the finished look of the space.

These 2025 Australian renovation trends reflect a desire for energy efficiency and a sense of luxury in our homes. Electric underfloor heating is a great way to attain these home renovation aspirations while not putting too much pressure on your bank account or the environment.
